The mystery of what to do with the vacant restaurant along Bayshore Avenue in Oak Harbor that once housed Mi Pueblo has been solved.
The building will soon be home to Alfy’s Pizza, a family-friendly pizza chain with several locations in the Northwest Washington region.
According to Oak Harbor Economic Development Director Barbara Spohn, the Mi Pueblo building was purchased by Stanwood businessman Brett Olson, currently the CEO of the pizza chain.
“He wants to make it more upscale with higher end food featuring more Italian dishes,” Spohn said. “He wants it to be something that reflects its waterfront location, but still cater to families.”
The Oak Harbor location would be the seventh for the 40-year-old regional chain, which prides itself on creating “ a traditional fun and friendly environment where families and friends can join each other in a back to the days where dine in pizza meant good conversation, great food and memorable moments,” according to its website.
Spohn said that although no building permits have been applied for at this time, Olson is hoping to have the restaurant up and running by mid-July. She said the new owner may also have plans to add more retail and residential space on the property immediately behind the current building.
Olson could not be reached for comment.
The Mi Pueblo Mexican restaurant closed two years ago.

I wonder when this will open. It looks like a good business to have next to the Island Transit transfer station – certainly Island Transit users will go in for sodas, if not soda & pizza.

One thing that needs to start happening is this thing called “Transit Oriented Development”. That means putting businesses such as these and small markets close to transit centers, but also affordable housing.
