New Delhi. Pakistan’s Imran Khan-led government has turned to the opposition for the expected GDP growth data, which he says is “unrealistic”. In the ruling, the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government estimates that GDP will reach 3.94 per cent for the financial year 2020-21. However, Shahbaz Sharif, Leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly and chairman of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), condemned the Imran Khan government in a series of tweets. Sharif said that during the tenure of the Pakistan Muslim League (N) (PML-N), Pakistan’s growth rate was 8.8 per cent, while the growth rate of the Premier was 9.9 per cent.

Sharif said a representative of the SBP (State Bank of Pakistan) had objected to the figure being taken further. Sharif claimed that the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), led by Imran Khan, had raised its original figure from 1.9 per cent to 3.3 per cent in its first year. He has lied this year as well.
The shortage will come after the review
He also said that independent economists have projected a decline in real incomes for Pakistanis this year. Sharif said, therefore, the growth rate maintained by PTI is unrealistic even this year, which will be lower when reviewed. He further said that prices have gone up by 13 per cent every week since February 5 this year. He said prices have risen 17 per cent this week compared to last year.

Rigid in economic data
The PML-N chief said the rise in inflation and food prices has dealt a major blow to middle-class households, as ANI quoted another media report. Sharif also said that PTI has left at least 5 million people unemployed and nearly 20 million people in abject poverty. He said through a news agency that Imran Khan runs the country only for his friends. He said that in a successful economy, inflation is low, employment is high and the government has plans for schools, hospitals and infrastructure. Where does our economy stand? With this he has made harsh allegations in economic data.
